If you’ve ever traveled out Hwy. 240 towards Boyce, you’ve surely passed the “lodge building” on the hill. It has been known as The Lodge all its life, 73 amazing years! It was built in 1951 by the Neel Masonic Lodge to hold their monthly meetings. When they first formed their Lodge back in 1906, they met just down the road in the upstairs of the former store building on the corner of Hwy. 240 and Duncan Road. In 1969, the Eastern Star Chapter was formed and began using the building as well. The Lodge closed in November of 2023 and the Eastern Star Chapter merged with the Goshen Chapter. The pandemic in 2020 took its toll on several of the lodges around the area. It was hard for them to recover after being closed for so long.
Gary and Michelle Wheeler are now the owners of the building. When Gary received the call they were closing the lodge and he would need to move his membership, he asked about the building. It had been turned over to the Grand Lodge of Kentucky. They called him back with a price and the Wheelers couldn’t resist. However, the Wheelers weren’t sure what they were going to do with the building. They tossed around several ideas and knew they needed to let it be something the community could use and enjoy. After about six months of renovations and lots of hard work, they have now opened an event space called “The Lodge at Boyce.” They refinished the original, yellow pine hardwood floors to ensure the building kept the same homey feel. They included a small warming kitchen for guests or caterers to use. The kitchen even has an outside entrance, so your event is not disturbed.
The event space has a small stage for anything from karaoke to live music.
The event space has a maximum capacity of 72 people. They offer nine 60” round tables and also have a few oblong tables for serving food. Eight chairs per table are provided at no additional cost. For a small upcharge, black and white tablecloths can be rented.
The Lodge even has Wi-Fi available for all renters. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to have a business meeting, this event space would be perfect for you. The space is great for everything from a quiet work meeting to a large party! Other things the event space could be perfect for are birthday parties, family reunions, business meetings, small weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, and conferences.
The space can be rented in increments of three hours with a discount for an all-day rental (12 hours).
The Lodge at Boyce is located about 6.5 miles from I-165 Plano Road exit (Exit 1). You can contact the Wheelers on their Facebook page (The Lodge at Boyce) or call 270-622-8412.
