Go behind the scenes with Hit Makers At Capitol Nights
Plan to spend the evening of April 24 downtown enjoying “Capitol Nights: Stories and Songs,” an intimate, narrative concert experience featuring the talents of Dallas Wilson, Ben Williams, Jordan Minton, Logan Turner and Mills Turner. That Thursday at 7pm, these five singers and songwriters with local and nearby roots will share behind-the-scenes inspiration for the songs they wrote for some of country music’s biggest stars including Luke Bryan, Laney Wilson, Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, and Jelly Roll. Tickets cost only $20 plus tax/fees and are available at capitolbg.org. This musical celebration will be presented by Warren County Public Library along with Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, WNKY, Donatos, and Forerunner.
Nashville native Dallas Wilson is a country and pop music songwriter and producer who has written three #1 country radio hits including the NSAI Song of the Year and CMA nominated “Heart Like a Truck” (Lainey Wilson), as well as “Nobody” and “Can’t Have Mine” (Dylan Scott).
Songwriter Ben Williams’ first #1 song on country radio was “Tennessee Orange” (Megan Moroney), which was nominated for CMA, ACM, and People’s Choice Country Awards Song of the Year. He co-wrote the Platinum single, “I’m Not Pretty” (Moroney) and the Platinum hit “Narcissist,” (Avery Anna).
Jordan Minton has also written a number of country music favorites including “Steal My Thunder” and “Same Heart” (Keith Urban), “What Keeps You Up at Night” (Dan and Shay), “Good Lord” (Abby Anderson) and “Telling All My Secrets” (Mitchell Tenpenny).
Bowling Green native Logan Turner’s performances with his former band BeXar (pronounced “bear”) have amassed over 50 million streams. He has collaborated with and had songs recorded by artists including Russell Dickerson, Cheat Codes, Keith Urban, Kane Brown, Martin Garrix, Dasha, Diplo, and Jelly Roll and has worked with a host of A-list producers and songwriters.
Singer/songwriter Mills Turner, another former BG native, has released three EPs – Clashing Thoughts, Train of Thoughts, and Final Thoughts. “Hollow,” a song on his second EP, was described by Billboard as “sun-kissed singer-songwriter music with a beautifully loping hook that gains texture as the harmonies fully arrive.”
Grab Your Blue Suede Shoes and Get Ready to Rock!
If you love the music of Elvis, you’ll feel like you’re stepping back into the golden era of rock-and-roll the minute Tyler Christopher hits the stage Friday, April 25 (7pm). An intentionally recognized Elvis tribute artist, Christopher has been a long-time performer for Elvis night at the Great American Ballpark (Cincinnati, OH), and has performed in a number of venues in Memphis, including the Graceland Complex. Bringing to life the moves and music of “The King,” he tours with the Rustabout Showband with an authentic flair that leaves concert-goers awestruck. Ticket prices range to this tribute concert ranges from $35 to $45 plus tax/fees.
A Season Of Heavy-Rocking Tribute Bands Begins
Heavy rockers and metalheads, take note! The Capitol will host a series of concerts that will rock your socks off, starting with the first Friday, April 11 (8pm). Sabbath will re-create the sights and sounds of the Godfather of Heavy Metal’s band – Black Sabbath – and perform music from the Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio eras with note-for-note perfection. They will be joined by Powerslave, a Nashville-based powerhouse tribute band that faithfully recreates the iconic sound and energy of the classic Iron Maiden. A special guest band will open the night… Bowling Green’s own Trash Devils. Ticket prices range from $20 to $28 plus tax/fees.
Two additional bands by the same promoter, Terry Harper, will follow in summer months, including JUMP – America’s Van Halen Experience(Saturday, June 14); and the Subliminal Verses – a Midwest Tribute to Slipknot (Friday, July 11).
