Western Kentucky Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Associates Rehabilitation Department has a long history of excellence; providing a broad array of state-of-the-art outpatient rehabilitation programs to serve the needs of adult and pediatric patients alike. We offer therapy services for a wide variety of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries and disorders. The rehabilitation department provides experienced medical professionals--including physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapist assistants and athletic trainers working together in multidisciplinary teams to best meet your rehabilitation goals. After your evaluation, the therapy team works closely with your referring physician to design an individual, goal-oriented rehabilitation program. Our goal is to allow you to return to the activities you enjoy most as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Your progress will be reported to your referring physician throughout all stages of rehabilitation; which allows for our rehabilitation program to provide an unsurpassed total continuum of care.

Physical therapists are specialists in the identification and treatment of movement disorders. Our physical therapists evaluate your functional ability and prescribe a comprehensive plan of care that may include:

Therapeutic exercises to restore motion and strength

Manual therapy techniques

Joint and soft tissue mobilization

Use of modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, mechanical traction, moist heat and cryotherapy to help decrease swelling, restore joint motion and minimize pain

Functional capacity evaluation and work hardening

Specialized testing that may assist your physician in making an accurate diagnosis

Posture and body mechanics instruction

Home exercise program education and information specific to the injury or illness
