National Corvette Museum – Hit the track in a Corvette!

Have you ever dreamed of driving America’s Sports Car? How about on a racetrack? At the NCM Motorsports Park, those who have always wanted to get behind the wheel of a Corvette can do so with our Corvette Experience and Corvette Touring options.

DRIVE A CORVETTE

The Corvette Experience consists of three 20-minute on-track sessions alternating with three classroom sessions. Drivers will be behind the wheel of a 2017 Corvette Stingray Z51 for laps around the 3.15 mile road course, built for speed. Participants will receive lunch and a VIP guided tour of the National Corvette Museum as part of their package. Complimentary shuttle transportation is available to and from the Museum for the tours. The Corvette Experience is open to the public and available for private events.

Upcoming opportunities are September 4, October 19, 21, 22, November 3, 12, and December 1, 15, with both morning and evening sessions are offered. The cost of the Experience is $599, and those wishing to participate are encouraged to call 270-777-4509 to schedule. Advanced reservations are required and space is very limited.

With Corvette Touring, you have the chance to drive your choice of automatic or manual Z51 Corvette on the track with a pace car for four laps. Drivers only need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid drivers’ license. The cost of Corvette Touring is $199 and calling ahead to schedule recommended.

If you have your own Corvette or other car you’d like to take on the track, laps are only $45.

RIDE IN A CORVETTE

On top of the Corvette Experience and Corvette Touring, the National Corvette Museum is now offering rides in Corvettes. For $20, you can take a three-mile, 10-15 minute ride in your choice of Corvette. Currently rides are offered in a 1966 Rally Red Convertible 327, a 1979 Corvette Red Coupe and a 2003 50th Anniversary Convertible, though other cars may be rotated in and out. Rides can be booked at the Museum’s Admissions counter and are available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For high-speed fun in a Corvette the NCM Motorsports Park offers hot lap rides with a professional driver. Hot laps make a great gift for any age and are priced at $100.

HIGH SPEED FUN

The brand new NCM Kartplex is now open at the NCM Motorsports Park. For $20 per person, you can arrive and drive for a fun race against your friends on the track in an eight-minute session. Karting is closed on Mondays, but is open Tuesday to Sunday, 1 to 7 p.m. However, hours are subject to change due to inclement weather and private events. To drive, you must have closed-toe shoes and be at least 60” tall or have a valid driver license. The track has a timing system that keeps up with your lap times each time you visit. Will you set the track record?

Beginning this fall, the NCM Kartplex will host go-karting leagues every other Saturday morning. The league will run for a total of four Saturday races. Each race will consist of a practice round, two qualifiers and two races – a $100 value for only $75! Prizes will be awarded based on a point system to determine weekly and overall standings. Check the calendar on our website for official dates and more information.

Also, if you are interested in a private party, you can check out those details on the website as well.

SPECIAL EXHIBIT

Now through May 2018, the National Corvette Museum is hosting a special exhibit celebrating 225 years of Kentucky transportation history “225 Years On The Move.” The exhibit focuses on both modes of transportation that were (and in some cases still are) built in Kentucky, as well as telling the story of how transportation has grown and evolved over the years.

Artifacts include the one millionth Toyota Camry produced in Kentucky, the first Corvette built in Bowling Green in 1981 when production relocated from St. Louis, a stagecoach used to transport passengers from Mammoth Cave to Woodland Station (and is thought to have been robbed by Jesse James), a 1943 Ford GPW (Jeep) used in WWII and much more. The exhibit runs through May 2018 and is included with regular museum admission. This is a great opportunity for school groups, too! Learn more at corvettemuseum.org.
