As I was walking through Dillard’s on the day before Halloween, I noticed all of the Christmas decorations and I got into the holiday spirit a bit early this year! I was inspired to share my top 12 dental tips this holiday season. In song form!
On the first day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Remember to brush your teeth daily!”
On the second day of Christmas my dentist said to me, “Floss your teeth and remember to brush daily!”
On the third day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Swish your mouthwash, floss your teeth and remember to brush daily!”
On the fourth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Limit your sticky snacks! They get stuck in the grooves of your molars and cause cavities!”
On the fifth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Go get dental checkups every six months!”
On the sixth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Take your sippy cups away as soon as you can! Sipping juice all day weakens baby teeth even if you can’t see the damage right away!”
On the seventh day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “No more gummies! They get stuck in your teeth and cause cavities!”
On the eight day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Get rid of your cylindrical binkies, they reshape your mouth and flare your teeth!”
On the ninth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “White spots can become cavities! Brush these areas carefully and see your dentist soon!”
On the tenth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Silver diamine fluoride might be a good option to help arrest and slow down baby tooth decay, ask me about it!”
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Remember we recommend a first dental visit by age 1!”
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my dentist said to me, “Everybody deserves to be cavity-free!”
With humor and persistence, just about every child can get their teeth brushed every day. Try to find a few minutes each day, especially during this holiday season, to help the children in your life brush their teeth and think about the importance of dental health. You can give your child a lifetime of healthy smiles.
