Sign up for summer fun at SKyPAC Camps

From arts and crafts to theatre and dance, there’s something for campers of ALL ages at SKyPAC. Our camps are taught by professional teaching artists and educators who work every day in the subject areas they’re teaching. You can feel confident that your camper will learn in a fun, safe, and most importantly CREATIVE environment.

“I sign my daughter up for Arts Camp for multiple reasons,” said Amy Fugate, mother of a returning SKyPAC camper. “First, she enjoys art and wants to try new things. Second, I believe art encourages her to be creative and innovative, which are two skills that can help her further develop creative problem solving skills. Third, I believe art can be a positive outlet for expressing feelings and relieving stress at any age.”

Our summer kicks off in June with Pop-Up/Pop Art Camp with professional artist Morgan Conwell. In this half-day session June 10-14, campers will spend the week exploring a variety of Pop Art styles, techniques, and artists. This camp covers a little bit of everything in pop culture and will take place at the Capitol Arts Center.

Fugate’s daughter, Lily, who attended The Art Factory Visual Arts camp last year, said her favorite thing about art camp at the Capitol Arts last year was, “getting to do lots of different art pieces using different materials. My favorite was print-making, where you draw a design in Styrofoam, dip it into ink, and make your own print on paper.”

When asked why she wants to go again this summer, Lily said, “So I can learn how to do more artwork that is different than just using a brush, paint, and paper.”

Chicago-based Compass Creative Dramatics returns to SKyPAC again this summer for two weeks of performing arts camps featuring The Jumping Jacks and the Beanstalk June 17-22 and Cinderella (Saves the World!) July 8-13.

“My daughter attended the summer camp last year and participated in Beauty and the Beast,” said Sandy Hackbarth, mother of a returning SKyPAC camper. “She really enjoyed her time and made new friends! She has been asking to return this year for another camp and is looking forward to acting again.”

This full day camp includes participating in daily theatre workshops and culminates with a fully-staged musical production with sets, costumes, and props.

“Since I don’t live in Bowling Green, summer camp at SKYPAC gives me an opportunity to make new friends and have a creative outlet,” said four-time drama camp participant Claire Zaslavsky. “The teaching artists make sure all of the kids are welcome and have a role in the final production. Also, all of the teaching artists are extremely kind, and they make sure everyone makes new friends.”

Our July concludes with another exciting visual arts camp with Conwell. In Just Add Water, campers will focus on the magic of watercolor and the science behind it, plus, fun experiments with other materials to see what happens when you add water to create art. This half-day session runs July 15-19 at the Capitol Arts Center.

“It is such a treat meeting new campers and reconnecting with all of our returning campers at SKyPAC,” said SKyPAC Education Coordinator Tiffany Deaton. “I love it when I speak to parents and they are eager to make sure their child has a spot. Our camps fill up fast, and we’re grateful we can provide engagement opportunities for children in our community each summer and throughout the year.”

Summer camp at SKyPAC would not be possible without the support of our Board of Directors, who make arts education a priority in our community. We’d also like thank Pete and Dixie Mahurin and Chris and Emily Castelli for helping make camp affordable and possible for many.

Come explore with us this summer and discover all those hidden talents and creative imagination!
