Just Piddlin Farm is a Certified Roadside Market located in the South Union community between Auburn and Rockfield. The farm is a family owned business specializing in fall produce. What started out as a hobby farm – “just piddlin” – has grown over the last several years into a full-fledged business for the Willingham family.
Just Piddlin Farm is an agritourism site that caters to families who want to experience a working farm. The large pumpkin patch is flanked by row crops and centered by a large black barn that was once used as a livestock facility. Today that barn is filled with over 35 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squash that can be purchased pre-picked. If a family wants the total experience, they can take a wagon out into the patch and select one (or several) from the vines.
The pumpkins were the beginning of Just Piddlin Farm, but it has diversified over the years. Six years ago, we added a corn maze to our farm. The maze is a professionally designed maze that we use to spotlight local businesses in its design. This year we are proud to partner with Hunt Ford out of Franklin, Ky. Each year we have more visitors try their navigation skills in this popular attraction.
Shortly after adding the maze, we build a structure called “The Hive” to bake sweets using our produce. We created several cookies, pies and treats that a family can purchase to munch on while visiting. This is also where we host birthday parties and other events.
We also have several items for the kids to enjoy. We added the duck race and straw tower last year, plus we have swings and a tube slide as well as our most popular attraction, the corn box. Kids of all age enjoy the feel of the cool corn. Families enjoy the hayride around the pumpkin patch that gives an overview of items grown in the patch.
Just Piddlin opens September 14 and closes November 2 and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the play zone and hayride is $3 for children age 3-15, and adults don’t have to pay to accompany kids. The corn maze is $7 per person, or get a combo ticket for kids to the corn maze, play zone and hayride for just $8.
