Yes, it’s BIG news from January 4, 2021 and forward! As Hot Yoga begins our 15th year of business in Bowling Green, Kentucky, we have a brand new owner in Andrea A. Forsythe!
Andrea is a familiar face and a driving force at Hot Yoga, as she began practicing yoga here more than 13 years ago as a longtime athlete excelling in softball, golf, running and cycling.
She advanced her yoga skills and commitment to her practice throughout the past few years and then completed the Hot Start™ Yoga Teacher Training intensive at Hot Yoga BG. She began teaching a few times per month, solidifying her foundation and performing her teaching practicum doing something she was extremely passionate about.
Over the next couple of years, Andrea furthered her yoga education by completing her 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training for Vinyasa Yoga in Nashville, Tennessee. She has since become an associate trainer in the Revelation School of Yoga™ 200-hour program, become certified in The Barkan Method™ of Hatha Yoga, as well as receiving certification in Yoga Shred™ and the classic methods of Yin Yoga while pursuing continuing education in Hatha and now nearing completion of her 300-hour upgrade training to become an official 500-hour RYT! All of these programs are Yoga Alliance registered and recognized worldwide as examples of quality yoga training methods.
Andrea has brought her teaching skills to another level, now teaching multiple classes each week with an emphasis on variety and positive results for all her clients and yoga family. We are beyond excited to work alongside her to continue this journey of health and healing at Hot Yoga. You will continue to see your many trusted teachers still leading the great array of classes here.
Along with her ever-evolving yoga skills, Andrea has many attributes to share with us in the Hot Yoga family: She was a dedicated associate of the United States Postal Service for 28 years, diligently working from humble beginnings through the ranks and then effectively managing a significant number of post office locations as Postmaster until the most recent years as the Postmaster of Bowling Green, Kentucky – managing hundreds of associates and millions of pieces of mail in the process. She possesses superior management capabilities! And now, join her and all the great yoga family at HYBG as she makes her passion and her dream a reality…
We want to invite you to come take a class or a series of classes at Hot Yoga Bowling Green as Andrea strives to keep the high quality of teachers, classes and outstanding value as well as personal service with attention to detail you have come to expect here a top priority, while moving into the future with creativity, variety and excitement! We welcome all levels of abilities at Hot Yoga, and Andrea reminds you that we ALL had a “first class” – so let yourself be a beginner… and in every class with a “beginner’s mind.”

And now – here is your February, 2021 “Pause for a Pose” – The Easy Pose (sukasana)/Plank (dandasana) combination:
This month’s Pause for a Pose can be practiced separately, in sequence with one another, or as a partnered pose with an experienced yogi. Easy Pose begins in seated position with the shoulders back and the spine vertical. Slide the feet together with the soles touching and lift one foot up while crossing the ankles in front of your navel. Rest the legs with knees outwardly bent and engage the abdominal muscles – resting the hands on the legs above the knees or holding them in a prayer position. Plank begins in four points (all fours) hands & knees. Keep the elbows straight and the palms flat with fingers widely spread. Inhale, then upon the exhale walk the feet back behind you until the knees are straight and toes are curled under in dorsi flexion. Hold very straight like a plank and breathe naturally while flexing the entire body and practicing awareness of the pose. For a super advancement (only after much experience with both postures), you may begin to practice the partnered pose shown in the Hot Yoga ad photo this month – featuring an easy pose performed by one yogi, on the back of another yogi in plank. This advanced pose combination should ONLY be practiced by VERY experienced persons with someone close by to help spot the balancing yogi to prevent injury. Practice very carefully and at your own risk. Caution and safety first!
