From Gramma Nutt tap dancing in her magical field of jazzy peanuts to the ooey-gooey friendships formed in Gloppy’s Chocolate Swamp, joining the funky party of Lord Licorice’s leading lady, and feeling the first sugary snowflakes fall with Queen Frostine, each character showcases their own personality that is sure to bring a smile to every boy and girl, young or old! A nostalgic game filled with familiar characters, expressed through athletic and artistic dancing, this multidimensional concert brings an enchanting spirit enjoyable for all ages!
With over 30 pre-professional dancers, a narrated and engaging storyline, and several student developed scenic elements, Winterdance: CANDYLAND adventures has something for everyone. Amanda Clark, Professor and coordinator of the WKU Dance Program, has worked alongside Associate Professor Meghen McKinley and Assistant Professor Anna Patsfall, and Adjunct Instructors Kylene Stephens and Roberto Sifontes to create an entertaining night of dance and fun for the whole family. You will experience the technical excellence and diversity of the WKU Dance Program as the dancers visit Plumpy’s Plum Grove, the Peppermint Forest, the bouncy Gummy Hills, and the Lollipop Woods. This show allows audiences to revel in nostalgia while getting a behind-the-scenes look at one of America’s favorite board games.
The cast and crew consists of student artists and designers that are members of the WKU Chapters for the National Dance Education Organization and the National Honor Society of Dance Arts. These dancers work hard throughout the year to engage with and give back to our Bowling Green community by providing dance opportunities and education for students of all ages and skill levels.
