After a difficult and frustrating two years dealing with COVID, wedding professionals and couples getting married can breathe a sigh of relief and plan the wedding of their dreams. That vision can now include a large guest list, a packed dance floor or perhaps a small intimate wedding, but one thing is sure, the worst is behind us. With their loved ones by their side, couples can celebrate things denied to them and focus on their future without lockdowns and restrictions. As we ring in 2022, couples can embrace their shared passion of what means the most to them in planning their wedding. Whether that’s a small garden wedding or a black tie affair with 300 guests, couples have a choice in the type of wedding they want. According to Allie Coode, Events by Allie, a vendor in the 2022 Southern Kentucky Bridal Expo, wedding trends for 2022 include:
1. Neon signs – Whether a customized sign of the couple’s last name, or a cute saying, everyone is loving the idea of having a neon sign on display at their wedding receptions. Make it a focal point behind the cake display or dress up your photo booth backdrop.
2. Dessert displays – Long gone are the days where cake is the only dessert option at weddings. More and more couples are reducing the size of their cake and increasing the size of their dessert options. From donut walls, to cookies and pies, your guests will love going up to see your selections at the dessert table.
3. Moody decor – Since BOHO vibes made their way into the wedding world, the possibilities continue to become endless. Black and dark elements that once seemed unacceptable for a wedding are becoming some of the top ways to really elevate your event. Deep jewel tones are common in the floral colors and black design elements like candlesticks, tablecloths and even dinner plates are sure to make a statement.
4. Floral installments – Where flowers are most commonly seen displayed on the tables, the idea of finding ways to hang them, elevate them, attach them to a wall, or even have them coming up from the floor continues to grow in popularity.
5. Online RSVP – Even though some people still feel like it goes against every bone in their body, saving yourself the struggle of mailed RSVPs and going with an online alternative is how the times are changing. A lot of people will include the link to their wedding website on the invitations, but there are even ways to create your own wedding QR code to make it easier for your guests.
The latest trend in wedding gowns, according to Beth Williams, owner of B Bridal in downtown Bowling Green, another vendor in the Southern Kentucky Bridal Expo, says, “Although everyone has their own style preferences; traditional, BOHO, glam or classic, this season’s brides have been interested in a little less than traditional colors. Mocha, Sand, and Misty Mauve underlays spotlight the beautiful details in our dresses. With the wide variety of choices and customizations, brides are able to create their perfect wedding gown!!!“
