“There are two kinds of people in the world: the quick and the dead!” –Coach Bill Fox
If you played any sport in Hopkins County in the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s, then you were probably fortunate enough to hear those words come out of Coach Fox’s mouth. If you were lucky enough to play for him, then you heard those words every ten minutes during practice. If you were one of his children, then you LIVED those words!
But what does that mean? Historically, “quick” simply refers to the state of being alive. However, it’s much more than that to us. It’s something inside that won’t let us stop. It pushes us forward despite challenges, setbacks and failures. It’s giving 110% in all we do. It’s never stopping. It’s the relentless pursuit of our dreams.
When our family decided to tackle this farm and venue dream, we applied that old “quick and the dead” adage to these challenges as well. We did the research, wrote the business plan, applied for Kentucky Proud membership, and navigated the complexities of the Planning & Zoning Board. Then the real work began – transforming our 30-acre family farm into a Certified Agritourism venue! We saved, sacrificed and paid for everything out of pocket. We called on our amazing friends and family to help us reach our goals. My dad, Bill, stayed with us for weeks at a time helping us build our dreams one board at a time. We prayed for guidance, dreamed of success and worked ourselves into exhaustion each night. It certainly has been a lot more tears, stress, calloused hands, doubt, anxiety, prayers, aching muscles, dark eye circles and wrinkles than we could have ever imagined.
Regardless of the difficulties, we are so thankful for this journey! Our faith and family are stronger than ever and we are proud to bring you Circle W Farms, Woodburn, Kentucky: Weddings & Events! We will continue to pray for guidance, wisdom and fortitude to persevere in the days, months and years ahead. After all, the ONLY way is THROUGH and we will do WHATEVER IT TAKES!
And don’t miss Charms from the Farm, a handmade marketplace featuring local food trucks, arts, crafts, baked goods and more on Saturday, March 26 from 9am-3pm. There is a $5 cash admission but 100% of the gate fees will be donated to help the tornado victims in Kentucky!
