WOW! As we begin our 16th year at SOKY Happenings so many great things come to mind and it makes me so incredibly thankful.
First, I would be remiss if I didn’t say a special thanks to David and Carrie Francis who’s brainchild SOKY was in the first place. They started the magazine 15 years ago this month with an idea and a lot of hard work and I doubt they had any idea the direction it was going to take.
Fast forward to March 2012 and David and Carrie had decided to move out west to be closer to their kids and Twila and I adopted SOKY into our family of small businesses. One of the biggest compliments we have ever been paid is that David and Carrie said they were searching for somebody who would love the magazine as much as they had, would work hard to continue to serve their sponsors and readers and who might be able to take it to the next level… and with us they felt they had found that.
During the past 10 years Twila and I have worked hard to continue the SOKY goal of entertaining and enlightening our amazing area with great content while offering small businesses and non-profit organizations an affordable way to share their important messages. During these uncertain and challenging times SOKY continues to serve a large, regional audience and yet we keep our advertising rates low so that even the smallest business has an opportunity to tell its story.
Thanks to all the folks and businesses who have helped SOKY Happenings remain an entertaining source of great content and an affordable and effective marketing tool for many area organizations.
Happy 15th Birthday, SOKY Happenings. Here’s to many more!!!
