What is exosome therapy?
Exosome therapy is a new area in regenerative medicine treatment. Exosomes are microscopic sacs of material that help cells communicate. Exosomes contains growth factors and other biologically active molecules which can speed up our bodies’ healing process.
What is exosome therapy used for?
Exosomes can be combined with other skin treatments to promote healing after therapies which cause inflammation and injury to the skin. Exosome therapy can help decrease fine wrinkles, problem pigmentation, improve skin texture and lessen acne scarring. With these goals in mind, in our practice we use exosome therapy in conjunction with CO2 laser resurfacing, plasma pen treatments and microneedling treatments.
Exosomes have shown great promise in combination with other treatments for HAIR LOSS. Exosomes have been used to reverse hair loss due to their growth factor content. The exosomes trigger healing and natural regeneration of hair follicles. Exosome hair loss therapy is cutting-edge in hair restoration.
Research is ongoing for treatments for arthritis, Alzheimer’s, various cancers, orthopedic injuries and neurologic diseases. Exosome arthritis therapy is believed to play a more substantial role in bone and cartilage remodeling.
A January 24th article in the Mayo Clinic Press titled “Beyond Stem Cells, Regenerative Medicine Finds Exosomes,” discusses the many avenues of exploration for the promise of exosome therapies.
Simply stated, exosomes provide enormous potential in the field of regenerative medicine. They have safety benefits in that no cells are in the treatment product, and the fact that exosomes are naturally-occurring substances means they are unlikely to cause allergic reactions.
The Scientific Stuff: Exosomes (small, extracellular sacs) which are released by almost all cells and found in all body fluids, are responsible for cell-to-cell communication. In other words, exosomes are little messengers which help cells communicate. They can communicate to make new, healthier tissues. Exosomes are typically made by growing mesenchymal stem cells (such as from fat cells). The manufacturing process removes all the cell components.
Exosome therapy is one of the great options we offer at Sky Vein and Aesthetics. We use BENEV Exosome Regenerative Complex (https://www.benev.com/exosomes), a topical skin care product. Come for a free consult with Dr. Danny Harrison to learn about exosomes and other exciting options.
