It’s here, it’s really here! Brews & Tunes is back and better than ever! The folks at Mellow Mushroom are ready for their 16th festival, perfect for pizza, music and beer lovers alike! Attendees can enjoy great weather, great food and great bands – all while taking the opportunity to try new craft beers from a plethora of different vendors. Some of these featured breweries include 3Floyds, Country Boy, Founders, Pretentious Barrel House, The Brew Bridge, Southern Grist and many more. For anyone looking for a helping hand trying to figure out that perfect concert brew for you, reps from several breweries will be on site to talk to you. So, mark your calendar for September 17th, because you don’t want to miss out on this.
This event is from 11am till 11pm and you’ll have all day to pick out the best drink to enjoy while rocking out with us (music starts at 4pm). Now, my advice is to start inside and work your way out into the sea of cold ones. At the indoor bar, you’re gonna find some of the best new/rare beers Mellow will have to offer. In our wide selection of over 30 limited-time options, one stands out particularly. Once again, Pretentious Barrel House of Columbus, Ohio has outdone themselves with their new Truculent, with cucumber and lime. Crisp and refreshing with a hint of melon without overwhelming the senses, this drink is perfect for anyone hanging on to those last moments of summer. With the addition of both lime juice and zest, this beer is light, with an unmistakable cucumber finish. This is the best end-of-summer drink.
If you’re already over summer and ready to kick off fall the right way, lucky for you there’s something for everyone at Brews & Tunes. The best way to celebrate the leaves falling is with a perfectly-spiced cider. No one does it better than The California Cider Company, and this September they are rolling out their Ace Pumpkin Cider. Ace Pumpkin is a limited fall release cider. It contains fresh pumpkin juice, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg to create a refreshing yet warming holiday beverage. Perfect to start this season off!
Your choices can range from a dark imperial stout by Dragon’s Milk Reserve, all the way to a bright fiendish wild ale from Three Floyds. All these options already and we haven’t even checked out what’s going on outside!
Once you’ve checked out our massive selection of cans and new tapped beverages, don’t forget to take the party outside where music and beer lovers alike can mingle and check out some of the other cool things Mellow has in store. One of the coolest things is our featured vans and trailers who are stopping by to bring us some of the finest drinks straight from the tap. Our friends from Rhinegeist are coming all the way out from Cincinnati, Ohio to bring us a six-tap van including some of their signature Belgian ales, hoppy IPAs and much more.
You’re also likely to see our friends from Country Boy Brewing Company with a ten-tap trailer locked and loaded with a great selection. One of the highlights this year would be their imperial stout Ghost of Lucius Clay Ch. 2. This blonde stout has been aged in rum/bourbon barrels with cocoa nibs and banana puree, laced with aromatics like vanilla bean and allspice. Meanwhile, in this trailer, it’s also easy to find something simple and toned down, like their Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, which offers you a low bitter malt sweetness that makes it so pleasant to sip on while listening to live music.
There are so many more IPAs and ales to tell you about, but the best way to really get the big picture is to come and explore the spectrum of possibilities at Brews & Tunes, September 17th! This is gonna be a great day for people who love beer and for anyone who hasn’t had the right one yet. With so many options, paired with the knowledge of the breweries themselves coming straight to you and 1035 Chestnut Street this September, you’re sure to find a great beer to wash down dinner with a show.
