Writer’s block? That’s one affliction I don’t think I have ever had. More likely I have writer’s overflow! But sometimes I do have trouble coming up with a topic for my column that I will enjoy writing and believe you, fair reader, might enjoy. However, that is never a problem for November. “Why?” you might ask. Because I always take advantage of the month for Thanksgiving to give thanks.
Looking back over a few of my previous November efforts I realized I usually save the best for last. Not this year. First, I want to thank God for all His blessings in this past year. Twila and I have maintained good health, our businesses have continued to survive and recover, our families are healthy… even my grouchy, golf-challenged older brother… and in spite of many challenges, life in general is pretty dang good. So, thank You, God, for your amazing love and blessings.
Also, I want to thank all the sponsors who have helped SOKY Happenings continue to be able to share great articles and art with the people of this area. Without you, even as a labor of love, SOKY could not exist and you are all greatly appreciated. Of course, the fact that we provide one of the most loved and cost-efficient ways of sharing your messages to your current and potential customers is just a great added benefit.
And to you, our reader… you know who you are… thank you for picking up a copy of SOKY every month and enjoying the wonderful variety of entertainment included in these pages. Each month Twila and I personally distribute the copies of SOKY and that allows us to see that the magazine is still in huge demand. We seldom have more than a few of the 10,000 copies left each month and that always makes us feel good that you enjoy it so much.
Finally, there is the team that helps us put SOKY together. Abby and Meredith, who many of you know, talk with our sponsors and help them decide the best way to use our wonderful product to serve their businesses and customers. Krystal, the design whiz, puts the pages together for Twila to review and does an amazing job each month. No, Krystal, you can’t have a raise! And, finally, my best friend, business partner and wife for over 30 years, Twila. Yes, I am biased but I believe Twila is not only the best graphic designer with whom I have ever worked… she is by far the nicest person I have ever known. And anybody who knows me will back that up because Twila has put up with me for 30 years. An amazing feat in itself and more than deserving of some huge THANKS!
So, there you have it. Thank you to all and to all a good night. Wait, I’m a bit ahead of the season. May you and your family enjoy giving thanks this year for a great 2022 and may you have even more to be thankful for next year. God bless!
