The economic realities of 2023 have been hard on families, businesses, and nonprofits. We at HOTEL INC are no exception. As a community development organization, we join in the work of our Warren County neighbors to ensure that all people have access to nutritious food, affordable housing, and flourishing neighborhoods. We started a non-profit grocery store (the Delafield Co-Op Market) in the West End of Bowling Green to provide affordable and fresh whole food nutrition to our neighbors. We walk alongside people who are in crisis to connect them to resources, find affordable housing, and achieve the goals they set. We work in the Delafield community of the West End as neighbors connect to each other and create a flourishing community.
We see a continual increase of neighbors experiencing first-time homelessness, particularly seniors and single-parent families with children. We recently worked with a sister and brother in their 80’s who live on a fixed income. A car accident forced them to choose between paying their medical bills or their rent. Even though their property manager told them to defer their rent payments, the property owner began eviction proceedings. This 88-year-old woman was dealing with her own health issues, caring for her brother’s health issues, and they very nearly became homeless. This situation came to a good resolution, but it highlights both the growing needs and increasing vulnerabilities in our community.
Donations have been down this year by 42%, and we need your financial support. Your contributions invest in people who are investing in themselves. Thank you for your generosity in this season! We have a number of ways you can join our HOTEL INC community as we live out our calling to extend love to our community.
