If you were ever in doubt of buying yourself or your BFF flowers, just remind yourself of all the benefits. Studies show having fresh flowers in the home provides a boost of energy and focus, encourages compassion and kindness, and alleviates feelings of anxiety. Of course, you should always have some blooms around, whether it’s an elaborate design from your favorite florist, or a couple snips from your yard in a vase in your bathroom. Here are some tips to keep any flowers you receive last as long as possible:
-keep filled with water, and change water every other day
-when possible, trim the ends of the stems every couple days for maximum water uptake (and less ick!)
-keep out of direct sunlight and away from heating or AC vents
-remove blooms and foliage as they die – it’s natural for some varieties to last longer than others
-enjoy your daily reminder to stop and smell the roses
