For a little over a year now, I have been sharing with you articles through SOKY Happenings magazine. My goal when writing an article is to provide you with practical and actionable advice for your finances. Over the past year, I’ve covered topics ranging from retirement planning to tips to share with your children about money. But I’ve come to realize I’ve never shared with you who I am. The relationships we build are more than just numbers, we get to know who you are on a personal level. And that’s my goal for this article, to share with you who I am beyond just the numbers.
My younger brother, sister, and I were born and raised by our parents right here in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I went to Greenwood High School and was a part of the high school tennis team, better known as the G-Squad. When it came time to decide on where to go to college, I decided to stay local and attend Western Kentucky University. During my time on The Hill, I pursued a degree in finance, took on leadership roles in my fraternity, and worked for my family’s business. When I’m not at the office, you can likely find me training in the gym, cooking in the kitchen, or spending time with my fiancé by the water. Although I still love the game of tennis, I now find myself playing pickleball more frequently and enjoying the game of tennis by watching the professionals on television with my family and my fiancé’s family. I also enjoy staying active in our community by being a part of the Bowling Green Young Professionals, BG Catholics, and volunteering with Junior Achievement and on the Western Kentucky University Young Alumni Council.
Growing up, I had a passion for collecting coins. Some of my fondest childhood memories were going to various coin shops throughout the state with my dad. As I grew older, my passion for collecting coins turned into a passion for financial planning. When I arrived at Western Kentucky University, I knew one thing for certain, that I wanted to find a career that allowed me to help people. At first, I thought I would be best at helping people by studying medicine. But then I realized I could combine my passion for financial planning and my love for helping others by becoming a financial advisor. This led to my degree in finance with a concentration in personal financial planning and becoming an accredited asset management specialist. By taking this route, I’ve been able to build a career that allows me to develop long-term relationships with other professionals and gives me the ability to make a difference not only in their financial lives but in their personal lives as well.
