Riverview at Hobson Grove Historic House Museum is excited to welcome you back for another beautiful holiday season! We hope you will make plans to join us Wednesday, December 4, 10am-6pm for our Christmas Marketplace. Browse a selection of clothing, jewelry, home décor, art, and seasonal arrangements offered by vendors stationed throughout the beautifully decorated mansion. Don’t forget to check out Riverview’s gift shop and bake sale in the basement. In addition to many of our regular vendors, two local authors will be signing books. George Anna McKenzie, a descendant of the Hobson family, will have copies of her cookbook, Company’s Comin, and Amy Disparte, author of A Star in Each Flag, will be on hand with copies of her fascinating Civil War novel. Both of these books are available for purchase in our meeting room on the day of the event. Admission is free. Please note that all vendor spaces are full.
We were so disappointed that severe weather caused our Candlelight Tour to be canceled last year. It is always such a fun way to end our tour season! On Saturday, December 14, 4:30pm-7:30pm, you are invited to learn about a traditional Victorian Christmas celebration as you move throughout the old Hobson House, beautifully lit by candles and antique lamps. Our costumed docents will take you back in time as they explain the holiday traditions that would have taken place in each room. Our gift shop will be open and refreshments will be served in our meeting room. Parking will be available at the ball field and the Bowling Green Trolley will shuttle visitors to the mansion. Donations appreciated.
There is still time to take advantage of our regularly scheduled tours before we close for the winter. Tours are given at the top of the hour, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-3pm and Sunday, 1pm-3pm. Our museum will close after the Candlelight Tour on December 14, reopening Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
