Light Up the Capitol Campaign
Since taking over its management in 2021, Warren County Public Library’s goal has been to keep the Capitol a vital part of the community. During the last several holiday seasons, we have enlisted the help of donors to help “Light Up the Capitol.” This fundraising effort invites folks to sponsor festive red and green bulbs under the marquee that are illuminated all at once at the Downtown Lights Up celebration. The donation for a single light bulb is $25; a group of five is $100; a square of bulbs is $250; and a row of bulbs is $500. This money goes toward building improvement projects, like this year’s floor resurfacing and the exterior repainting project under the marquee. For the first time, we have added a lower-cost “add a snowflake” option, allowing people to give $5 to have a personalized snowflake hung in the lobby, since even the smallest donations add up! If you’d like to participate, go to capitolbg.org/light and donate!

Debut Author Tammy Oberhausen in conversation with Silas House: Friday, November 15, 6 p.m.
We are thrilled to host a new author with local roots this month! Tammy Oberhausen is the author of The Evolution of the Gospelettes, published in early October. Born and raised in Russellville (Kentucky), she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from WKU then earned an MFA in fiction writing from Spalding University. While working as a book editor and teacher and raising her daughters, she kept coming back to a story about a family of gospel singers that wouldn’t let her go. After three decades of developing her craft and writing and rewriting that story, the Gospelettes finally made their debut. She lives in Bowling Green with her husband. She will be in conversation with Kentucky author Silas House, the New York Times bestselling author of seven novels, including his most recent, Lark Ascending. Register for free tickets through the library’s calendar of events (warrenpl.org/events).
