In Memory

On Sunday, December 15, 2024 the non-profit Downtown Redevelopment Authority lost its leader, Ronald J. Murphy Following a distinguished career in banking, business, and state government, Ron assumed the helm of the DRA in 2011. As one of our community’s great unsung heroes, Ron helped facilitate the renewal of the building at 601 State Street, the revitalization of Fountain and Circus Squares, the Lights Up Bowling Green initiative, the donation of the Community Christmas Tree outside SKyPAC, and the effort to rehabilitate the old BB&T Bank Building at 903 State Street. He reenergized the annual Concerts in the Park music series and introduced Winterfest at the Capitol to downtown Bowling Green.

Ron made a difference. He will be missed.
