April marks Testicular Cancer Awareness Month and it is time to encourage self-exams and early detection. While testicular cancer is rare, it remains the most common solid cancer in men between the ages of 18 and 35. The good news? When caught early, testicular cancer is highly treatable.
At Graves Gilbert Clinic, we believe that access to expert care can make a difference. Dr. Mark Bigler, a urologist at Graves Gilbert Clinic, has dedicated his career to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. He emphasizes the importance of knowing your body and seeking medical attention for any unusual lumps or changes.
For Dr. Bigler, practicing medicine is about more than just treating illness – it’s about listening to patients and building trust. “One of my professors at Vanderbilt School of Medicine taught me that if you truly listen, patients will often tell you their diagnosis,” says Dr. Bigler. “I approach every patient with that mindset – combining compassion with the latest clinical science to ensure the best outcomes.”
Though testicular cancer is uncommon, Dr. Bigler and the urology team at Graves Gilbert Clinic are committed to providing high-quality, accessible care. From kidney stones to complex urologic conditions, they ensure patients receive high-quality treatment close to home.
Dr. Bigler joined Graves Gilbert Clinic in 1994 as its sole urologist. Over the years, the department has grown, welcoming talented surgeons Dr. Matt Rutter, Dr. Samer Kalakish, and most recently, Dr. Allen Simms. “I’m grateful for our team,” says Dr. Bigler. “Together, we provide comprehensive urologic care to the growing Bowling Green community.”
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Bigler enjoys time with his wife, Kathryn, their three children, and their German Shepherd, Hazel. They love exploring Lost River Cave and being part of the vibrant Bowling Green community.
This Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Bigler encourages men to prioritize their health. Try out a self-exam and if you have concerns contact your Primary Care Provider on what to do next. Early detection saves lives, and Graves Gilbert Clinic is here to provide the expert care you deserve.
