White Squirrel Arts Fest returns in a NEW location for 2025

Where can you find a friendly, free, and art-centric weekend event with community connections for all?

Don't miss the White Squirrel Arts Fest

The White Squirrel Arts Fest, of course!

Now in its third year, the White Squirrel Arts Fest brings together visual, performing, and literary artists from the surrounding area for a fun day of celebration. Drawing talent from Warren County and beyond, Bowling Green’s grassroots celebration of all things creative will feature vendors and entertainers that appeal to all ages.

Shifting from the downtown parks, the Fest is being reimagined for a future in Bowling Green’s historic Shake Rag district. This year’s Fest will take place on Saturday, April 26 in and around the spacious White Squirrel Brewery at the corner of State Street and 3rd Avenue, spreading out into the neighborhood and to the Shake Rag Bar & Lounge that evening.

Visitors can browse the indoor and outdoor art vendor fair from 10am to 4pm for booth displays by a diverse group of artists and makers. Intermingled with these will be demonstrations by artists plying their trade, and a new element in 2025 will be a Fashion Show presented by WKU Fashion, Inc. at 4pm on the main stage.

If it is books you want, Author’s Corner in the Brewery’s tasting room is a great place to peruse, also from 10am to 4pm. Drawing from a wide geographic area, the festival features literary artists in virtually every genre. Books for youth and children will be plentiful, as well.

And while you are looking, stop off at any of the several food trucks or vendors to chow down on your favorite nosh. There are selections both sweet and savory. With a variety of options, visitors are bound to find edibles that will appeal to their taste buds.

If live music is more your jam, stop in at the Brewery at any time during the day. A wide variety of local musical talent will be featured on the inside stages throughout the afternoon followed well into the evening by Black Light Daze and BG’s own Aaron Davis.

For the third straight year, the Fest will also feature an adults-only Poetry Slam in the evening from 7pm to 9pm just across the street at Shake Rag Bar & Lounge. Local writers, lyricists and poets will be reading and/or performing their work for a supportive audience. There is still time to sign up with prizes to be awarded in various categories. Get there early to make sure you have a good seat!

Grab your favorite libation at the bar, a snack or meal at one of the outside food trucks, and settle in for a toe-tapping good time in the festive environment for which White Squirrel Brewery has become known.

Did we mention all the events are free for patrons, whether it’s shopping the vendor fair, attending the Poetry Slam, or just enjoying the array of musical talent performing throughout the day? That said, there also will be plenty of art made by our neighbors at affordable prices, so be prepared to purchase whatever speaks to you or commission a new piece.

For a complete list of Fest happenings, be sure to visit the website at WhiteSquirrelArtsFest.com or follow @WhiteSquirrelArtsFest on Facebook. The pages are being updated frequently as new artists register to join in the fun. Interested participants can still sign up there, too.

Community art aficionados who believe informal, quirky arts events like this should continue in Bowling Green can also reach out about support levels. A very special thank you to Artworks, Inc., for its involvement and support again this year.
