The Warren County Public Library provides online services through hoopla, an innovative service that allows users to select from thousands of digital movies, television series, music titles, comics, eBooks, magazines and audiobooks. You’ll need a library card with the Warren County Public library and an email address to access this free service. You can use this service on your computer, phone, or tablet.
Through the Warren County Public Library, hoopla has a limit of 10 borrows per month. That means that you may borrow ten titles in any combination during a one-month period. When the next month begins, you may borrow 10 new titles (or the same ten titles over again!).
Something new in hoopla is BingePasses. BingePasses are available for Magazines, Curiosity Stream videos and the Great Courses collection. A BingePass counts for one checkout, but you have seven days to binge these collections. So, instead of one magazine counting as one check-out, you have seven days to read and look through all 50 magazines in the collection. The Curiosity Stream and Great Courses collections work the same way.
Hoopla BingePass Magazines include several titles that the library also offers in hard copy at library branches, including Birds and Blooms, Elle, Food Network, House Beautiful, Men’s Health, Reader’s Digest, Reminisce and Taste of Home. It also includes many titles that the library doesn’t have in hard copy, such as Bird Watching, Mayo Clinic Health Letter, Fast Company, Chatelaine, Cigar Aficionado, Golf, Jazz Times, What Women Create and Whisky Advocate. There are also a few children’s magazines like Time for Kids.
Curiosity Stream BingePasses are perfect for the ever-curious. Dinosaur enthusiasts will enjoy the Prehistoric Creatures documentaries that bring the ancient beasts to life. Space exploration is at your fingertips in the Deep Space collection, with documentaries covering our solar system and beyond. Visit places you’ve never been with the People and Places collection. History’s Greatest Battles collection will keep you on the edge of your seat, from Alexander the Great’s desire to conquer the world to mothers running from bombs with their children in World War II. The Future is Female collection introduces women who have changed the world throughout history and women who are taking on the world today. The Feel-Good Films collection in Curiosity Stream allows you to indulge in art, music, puppies, pizza and more. The World in 4K collection has films that will bring you up close and personal with big cats, penguins, dolphins, butterflies, hurricanes and other interesting people, places and things with 4K resolution. There are so many interesting things to watch in Curiosity Stream that you may find yourself enjoying back-to-back binges of these amazing collections.
Last, but by no means least, is the Great Courses BingePasses. Great Courses makes in-depth video instruction from some of the world’s greatest professors available to you. With Great Courses BingePasses, you can watch an entire course series uninterrupted for seven days. There are courses on ancient history, U.S. history, secret societies, inventions that changed the world and much more in the History collection. With the Hobbies and Leisure collection, you can learn to speak two or more languages, learn to paint, play the guitar, or learn the piano. Have you ever wondered where the food we eat today originally came from? The History of Food in the Food and Wine collection can give you that information. Or maybe you want to know how your favorite beer is brewed. You can find that here, too. Learn about the Holy Land and the History of Christianity in the Philosophy, Religion and Intellectual History collection. There are also courses on the Meaning of Life and Redefining Reality. Are you interested in different religions? Check out the Sacred Texts of the World. Learn about writing and read about the epic stories of the world in the Literature and Language collection. These courses can help you increase your vocabulary, learn how to write fiction and publish a book. Travel the world and through history in the Travel collection. Visit Ireland or Rome, or go back in time to medieval Europe. See the world’s greatest churches, or check out the wonders of America’s state parks. There are many more courses to choose from that offer so much to learn.
