We hope that you have marked Sunday, June 5th on your calendar to attend the annual Fairy Garden Tour sponsored by the Bowling Green Garden Club for the 16th year.
This year’s tour features seven outstanding fairy gardens located in our area. Some of the locations will feature more than one garden. Members of the BG Garden Club will be at each garden to welcome guests and to sell tickets to those who didn’t pre-purchase. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. To get your tickets in advance, call 270-991-3401 or you can contact any member of the BG Garden Club.
Gardens featured in this year’s tour are the family of Ruth Rabold, Brandon L. Miller/The Potted Patio at Boxwood, Julie Turney, Jenna Begley & Joanna Lindsey, Sarah Mayfield, Courtlann Atkinson and the Baker Arboretum. See the list in the ad on this page for addresses.
This would be a great way to share a magical afternoon with your child or to entertain a special young friend. Tours are between 1pm and 4pm and afterwards guests are invited to the Birch Room at Lost River Cave where refreshments will be available between 3pm and 5pm served by members of the Bowling Green Garden Club. During refreshments, children will receive supplies and help to create a miniature fairy garden to take home.
This year, The Club is pleased to include a three-terraced garden in the yard of one of their oldest charter members, Mrs. Ruth Fuller Rabold (Earl C.). Not only did Mrs. Rabold help organize the BG Garden Club in 1933, she also helped organize the state association and later served as its president, along with serving in many other offices and on committees at the local, state and national level.
Many areas in our city and county have the Ruth Rabold touch and influence such as downtown Bowling Green’s Fountain Square Park, city parks, country clubs and Riverview… along with various houses and gardens in Bowling Green, as well as other parts of the state and nation.
Romanza Johnson, a 30-year member of the BG Garden Club, remembers the talents and friendship of Ruth Rabold from when she first joined the Bowling Green Garden Club and now refers to Mrs. Rabold as a “mentor and friend to all the club’s members.”
Be sure to get your tickets and come experience the magic of these fairy gardens for yourself.
